Question 7

Question 9

How do I get the most accurate reading?

Question 20

What is the I Ching?

Accepted Answer

The I Ching (Book of Changes) is an ancient Chinese divination system over 3,000 years old. It uses 64 hexagrams to provide wisdom about life's changes and challenges.

Question 21

How do I cast I Ching hexagrams?

Accepted Answer

The traditional method uses three coins tossed six times. Each toss creates a line (solid or broken). Six lines form a hexagram. Our digital version simulates this process authentically.

Accepted Answer

Changing lines indicate transformation. When you cast hexagrams, some lines may change, creating a second hexagram that shows how the situation is evolving.

What is the difference between I Ching and tarot?

Accepted Answer

I Ching focuses on change and transformation through binary patterns, while tarot uses visual symbolism. I Ching is more philosophical; tarot is more psychological.

How do I interpret I Ching hexagrams?

Accepted Answer

Each hexagram has a judgment, image, and line texts. The primary hexagram shows current situation, while changing lines reveal how it's transforming.

Question 25

What are the 64 hexagrams?

Accepted Answer

The 64 hexagrams represent all possible situations and transformations. Each combines two of eight trigrams (Heaven, Earth, Thunder, Wind, Water, Fire, Mountain, Lake).

Can I ask the same question twice?

Accepted Answer

The I Ching advises against repetition. Ask once with sincerity, reflect on the guidance, and wait for circumstances to change before asking again.

What is the oracle poem in I Ching?

Accepted Answer

Each hexagram includes an oracle poem - a concise statement capturing the essence of the situation. These poetic insights often reveal deeper truths than literal interpretation.

The I Ching predates formal Taoism but embodies its principles - balance, change, and harmony with natural flow. It's foundational to Chinese philosophy.
